Happy National Principal Appreciation Day!
Today we recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication, commitment, and leadership of our principals, whose hard work often happens behind the scenes but makes a lasting impact on every student’s success. Your efforts create supportive, thriving school environments where both students and staff can grow and succeed.
Mr. Gorman, Mrs. DiSimone, Mrs. Mele, and Mrs. Jones, we honor and appreciate all that you do each day to uplift your school communities. Cinnaminson is stronger because of your leadership and vision.
Thank you for being such a positive and inspiring force in education!

This annual event provides an opportunity to raise awareness about hearing and speech problems, and to encourage people to think about their own hearing and get their hearing checked. Early identification and intervention for hearing loss is important. Many people live with unidentified hearing loss, often failing to realize that they are missing certain sounds and words. Checking one’s hearing is the first step toward addressing the issue.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our outstanding school nurse, Mrs. Ormsby, for the kindness, compassion, and steady care she provides each and every day. Whether tending to minor injuries, supporting students who aren’t feeling well, or offering reassurance and comfort, she plays an essential role in keeping our school community healthy and safe. Her dedication reaches well beyond the nurse’s office, and we are truly grateful for the positive impact she has on our students, staff and school community.
Thank you, Mrs. Ormsby, for all that you do—you are truly at the heart of our school’s care.
Happy School Nurse Appreciation Day!

Not All Heroes Wear Capes!
Stop by any cafeteria to watch school nutrition professionals prepare healthy meals for students—all the while adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile—and you’ll see they are true heroes!
This is the reason we celebrate School Lunch Hero Day every year on the first Friday in May. This annual observance is a chance to showcase what a difference school nutrition professionals make in the lives of every child who comes through the cafeteria.
We are grateful to our very own school lunch heroes, Ms. Dorothy, Ms. Lynn, and Ms. Anja, for all they do for our students. They are always so positive and friendly with students and make healthy, delicious lunches that students enjoy. Thank you for always leading with kindness!
|
On National Speech-Language Pathologist Day, we proudly celebrate Mrs. Jenkins and Ms. Campanella for the outstanding care and expertise they bring to our students each day. Your dedication to helping students develop strong communication skills makes a lasting difference in their confidence, learning, and overall success. Through your patience, compassion, and commitment, you empower students to find their voices and reach their full potential. We are truly grateful for all that you do—thank you for being such an essential part of our school community!

In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of AAPI communities. Throughout the month, our students will have opportunities to learn about influential figures, diverse histories, and the many ways AAPI individuals have shaped our world. We are proud to honor and appreciate the diversity that strengthens our school community.

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming Art Show! Come out and see your child’s fabulous artwork on display. Our students have worked incredibly hard and thoughtfully to create such amazing pieces they are proud to share. May is National Mental Health Awareness month. Established in 1949, the goal is to help people recognize the ways that mental health concerns can impact their lives by reducing the stigma associated with mental health. Communities provide education about resources that are available and promote support for individuals and families affected by mental health.
Mental Health Awareness month is an important time to practice self-care activities that can be used every day to make sure we are taking care of ourselves. Examples of self-care activities include listening to music, spending time outdoors, deep breathing exercises, writing in a journal, and sharing our feelings with individuals in our lives.

This month in the library, we will be reading and learning about insects. Insects are such a fascinating topic, and there’s so much to explore in both fiction and nonfiction. Reading about some of the world’s tiniest inhabitants always gets kids excited about reading.
It’s always fun to “Bee a Reader”.

National Physical Fitness and Sports Month
May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month!
This is a time to highlight the importance of staying active through sports and other physical activities. In celebration of this observance, we encourage everyone to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day, and work together to provide ample opportunity for students to be physically active both at school and at home.
A few ways we encourage physical activity at school:
-Physical Education class
-Recess
-Movement brain breaks inside the classroom
-Walks along the sensory path in school hallways
-Taking brain breaks outside when weather permits
Here are some ways to promote physical activity at home:
-Go for family walks (nature walks/scavenger hunts can be extra fun!)
-Drawing with chalk on the sidewalk/driveway
-Playing games with friends in the neighborhood
-Watching TV (that's right!) - challenge each other to try to hold a plank position throughout a commercial break
-Riding bike, scooter, etc.
-Trying out new sports together! Figure out something that nobody in the family has played before and give it a try!
Field Day is on Thursday, May 21st (Rain date - Friday, May 22nd)
Remember to wear/bring:
-Comfortable clothing
-Athletic shoes
-Sunscreen (applied before arriving to school)
-Water bottle

Our Lost & Found is getting full again. Please encourage your child to take a few minutes to check for any misplaced items—jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more. We’d love to reunite these items with their owners before they’re donated. It is always a good idea to label all of your child's items so that we can return them safely to the owner.

📣 New Albany Student Recognition
Good character is important for students and adults. It is shown through our thoughts, words, and actions. At New Albany, we stress respect, responsibility, and kindness by following our schoolwide expectations:
Be Respectful - I will use good manners and treat others in a way that I would like to be treated. I will be kind, express gratitude, forgive others, and help those in need.
Be Responsible - I will do what I am supposed to do and be accountable for my actions. I will try my best in all academic areas.
Be Safe - I will respect school property and make smart choices, doing my best to keep New Albany School a safe and clean place to learn.
Throughout the school year, students and staff will continue to learn ways to display good character traits through counselor and teacher lessons.
